Just curious what is everyone's favorite other 'plane' of existence from Forgotten Realms?
Which planes would people really like to see done in NWN? Don't be afraid to challenge me! Cause you know us Mad Scientists we are always looking for our next crazy experiment.

Well, the underwater areas on this server would make the Elemental Plane of Water a shoo-in.... That could actually be a good idea, though: the Elemental Planes. The Earth Plane would be easy enough...caves, caves and more caves, possibly with brown lighting (since the "air" would, of course, be gaseous earth) and mud or brown water (the "water" of the Earth Plane). The Water Plane would be pretty much one huge underwater area after the next, with ice and snow instead of earth and rock. But I'm not so sure if the fire/lava tilesets would be enough to do the Fire Plane justice, and the Air Plane would be even more daunting (though you might be able to fudge it with lots of heavy mist, "open sky" skyboxes and translucent terrain features). As always, special magic would be required to enter and survive in any of the Elemental Planes. After all, a living body depends on all four Elements to survive, and (at least according to the elemental mages and cosmologists) each of the Elemental Planes will not tolerate intrusion from the other three Elements. So entering an Elemental Plane would require one of these measures: 1) The Transmutation approach: Your adventurer's entire body and everything in it or on it would have to be converted entirely to the element in question, essentially converting the character to an elemental native to that plane (earth elemental, water elemental and so on). This would make the Elemental Planes inaccessible to each other; travelling directly from the Plane of Earth to the Plane of Water, for example, would be impossible, as transforming into a water elemental while in the Plane of Earth would be problematic, as would arriving in the Plane of Water as an earth elemental. (If there are wormholes between the Elemental Planes, however, it may be possible to transform while travelling through a wormhole between two Elemental Planes, thus allowing for direct travel.) 2) The Abjuration approach: Your character is surrounded in a magic shell that repels the plane's attempts to either reject or assimilate the character (a "foreign object" comprised of all four Elements, in the plane's eyes). This approach would easily allow direct travel among the Elemental Planes, but the native elementals (most of whom have never left their native plane, bear in mind) may not be as welcoming to an unconverted character. Compare a typical peasant village's reactions to the sight of a fire elemental showing up at their front gate. Native elementals--the people of the Elemental Planes--may regard such alien creatures as your Abjured adventurer in the same manner: suspicion, wariness, avoidance or open hostility. It's an idea, anyway.

I am ashamed to say that my favorite extra-planar locations require their own servers [as they make up the settings of Planescape and Ravenloft].
That said, I also believe that the Elemental Plane of Water would be a delightful addition, and make a good deal of sense, considering the heavy nautical theme that is prevalent in the idea of the server, especially the new underwater areas.

The earth elemental plane is do able, can use the old stoneskin texture for it. I already have plans for flying maps, so that is close to Air. Fire will be pretty easy to do and I bet I could make it look hella good.
I highly doubt after making a ton of underwater areas I will want to do the elemental plane of water. =-P
I was thinking more along the lines of places like the Blood Rift or Banehold, pretty sure no NWN server has done them. Or a plane of existence for some of the monster deities that PI tries to forefront in its server lore.

I would LOVE to see Brightwater...or part of it at least... Taken from the Forgotten Realms Wiki: Brightwater is the home plane of Lliira, Sharess, Sune, Tymora, and Waukeen. It is a plane dedicated to joy, beauty and luck. It is a place where life is lived to the fullest, sparkling with adventure and chances. It is divided into realms of each divinity. Quarter of the Orange Lanterns: Lliira's domain, where life is a long festival of music, dance and celebration. The Hearthfire Quarter: The domain of Sune, a quiet place of mystery, pleasure and love, filled with an atmosphere of seduction. Rapture: The quarter of Sharess, a shadowly district filed with dark and twisted alleys. Marketplace Eternal: Home of Waukeen, devoted to the pleasures of business and commerce. Quarter of the Great Wheel: The residence of Tymora, where games of chance, tests of luck and gambling abound. Here is a link to more information: www.realmshelps.net/faerun/planes/brightwater.shtml

Quarter of the Orange Lanterns, that sounds like a good place to have special player events like festivals, fairs and such. The Quarter of the Great Wheel would make the Inn's slot machine seem like nothing. Rapture could be really interesting too. Marketplace Eternal just sounds like a little village in Cormyr and The Hearthfire Quarter sounds like that same village when a certain charming crossbowman is around. =-P Three of them sound really interesting to do and have. Hopefully PI will have enough shops not to need the Marketplace Eternal. And I plead the 5th on the Hearthfire Quarter. That link is really great stuff too..way better than some wikis www.realmshelps.net/faerun/planes/

My favorites would be Warriors Rest and the Plane of Shadow. But finding a way to incorporate the Blood Rift would be awesome. ;D

Almost sounds like a much worse, twisted, and dark version of antarctica...with real cruel rulers..

...and perpetual storms, and a dark forest filled with things that want to eat you, and a blood ocean filled with other things that want to eat you.
But hey, if you suck up to Malar or Umberlee and join one of their hunting parties, the place rocks. Just eat a live baby and you're in. And if you suck up to Auril? Free skiing and ice skating, all year round. Wouldn't that be fun? ;D

The main question here then would be: Is the server using the new bastardized and dull 3.0/3.5 Forgotten Realms planes? Or are we using the more complex, and flavorful Great Wheel cosmology that FR used for most of its life?
Guess which I prefer.

I thought the bastardized and dull planes came with 4th Edition, where all of a sudden, like, half the deities ended up answering to Sylvanus for some reason. Yeah...Mielikki and Eldath punching in with the same clock that Malar and Umberlee use. Wouldn't that be a trip?

Oh don't even get me started on what 4e did to the FR cosmology.
Heh, no I'm talking about the original 2E and previous Forgotten Realms cosmology (the Planescape campaign setting).
3E FR distanced itself from Planescape and for some bizarre reason (likely dealing with licensing or something monetary) went with a brand new Cosmology that was lacking in the depth and details that Planescape had as the FR cosmology.
4E did to 3E FR cosmology what 3E did to 2E. I can only imagine that 5E Forgotten Realms will just say that all of the gods live in a college dorm with Ao as the Residential Advisor.

Here's a link to the Great Wheel cosmology. Still the cosmology in use on a number of FR NWN servers I've played on: forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Great_WheelA map of the Outlands, the True Neutral plane that housed the cities and entrances to each of the Outer Planes (ie. homes of the gods).
